1 Mt.Huangshan

In 1990 December, Anhui Mt.Huangshan Scenic Spot was collected into "Directory of World Cultural and Natural Heritage" by the UN Organization of Science, Education and Culture.      Mt.Huangshan stands towering in the south of Anhui province (30.1’N 118.1’E). It occupies an area of 250 square kilometers, of which 154 square kilometers is the core of the scenery. As it was said that Xuanyuan emperor was ever cultivating his morality and developing pills of immortality here. Not only is Mt.Huangshan famous for its beauty and elegance, but also it is a national scenic spot with its high value in science and ecological environment, it has rich natural resources and a comprehensive ecology; it belongs to the family of world heritage of culture and nature, and has been collected into "the Directory of World Cultural and Natural Heritage".     The fantastic pines, the grotesque rocks, the sea of clouds and the hot springs are the four major attractions in Mt.Huangshan.

2 Mt.Jiuhua

Mt.Jiuhua locates in the south of Mount Huangshan, and it is one of the three famous mountains (Mount Huangshan, Mount Jiuhua, and Mount Tianzhu) in Anhui Province. Meanwhile, it is one of the four great Buddhist Mountains in China, also known as the International Buddhist temple. It is the first batch of national key scenic area, a famous summer resort, and the state AAAAA-level tourist area.

3 Li Hongzhang's Former Residence

Li Hongzhang was born in Hefei in 1823.He held a key post for forty years, traveling far and wide across East Asia and West Europe. He was in charge of both the domestic affairs and foreign affairs of the Qing Dynasty. He founded the Huai Army and initiated the Westernization Movement. He was referred to as "the first man to advocate the open-door policy in China."

   The houses that belong to the Li Family occupy a huge place. This restored former residence, covering about 2,000 square meters, which is only part of them. The houses are in typical late Qing style. The entire building looks magnificent with carved beams and rafters. It is the largest and best existing preserved former residence in Hefei. And thus under the protection of Anhui provincial government.

Li Hongzhang’s former residence is located at Huaihe Road (the mid-section) of Hefei.

4 The Temple of Lord Bao

The ancestral Temple of Lord Bao (Bao Zheng) is located in Hefei's Bao River Park, a river named after him.

It was built to honor the well-noted upright official of the Song Dynasty. Bao Zheng (999-1062), a native of Hefei, was an honest official of the Earlier Song Dynasty (960-1127).He was famous for being free of corruption and remained disciplined all through his official life , therefore he has been remembered for centuries.

The temple currently houses some valuable historic relics, including Lord Bao's figure in stone cut in the Qing Dynasty, Lord Bao's Genealogical Tree, Lord Bao's Family Regulations and Lord Bao's writings and paintings.

In Lord Bao's Family Regulations, there is a sermon: Anyone of my offspring who commits corruption shall be excluded from the family, and should not be buried in the family tombs. He who doesn't follow my sermon is not my offspring.

5 Chen-Ning Yang's Former Residence

Chen-Ning Yang, who is a famous physicist of the world, the first Chinese Nobel Prize winner, was born in Sanhe Town, Hefei in Oct.1922.His residence was rebuilt on the foundation of the former house.

6 Hefei Sanhe Ancient Town

Sanhe Town is in the golden tourist route of Mt. Huangshan to Mt.Jiuhua, 40 km from the city proper of Hefei. The town has a history of more than 2,500 years. It attracts tourists with its "eight ancient relics"(ancient rivers, ancient bridges, ancient villages surrounded by water, ancient streets, ancient tea houses, ancient civilian houses, ancient performance stages, and an ancient battlefield).It is a typical "ancient town of rivers and lakes, together with small bridges, flowing water and local dwellings." There is an often-quoted saying about Sanhe which goes as". To make a tour, one should go to Huangshan; to sample food, one should visit Sanhe."
